Electricity at Work Regulations
The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989) require all electrical installations to be periodically tested for safety and compliance.
The frequency of required testing varies with the type of premises, but most commercial and educational buildings should be tested every 5 years.
Electric-wise can arrange a rolling programme of testing, to spread the cost of this important work over the 5 year period. When combined with Emergency Light testing and routine maintenance (such as changing fluorescent tubes and light bulbs), a cost effective schedule can be produced.
With many insurance companies now insisting that testing is kept up to date, now's the time to call us for advice.
All commercial and industrial buildings must be fitted with an Emergency Lighting System to ensure safe evacuation in the case of an emergency.
It is vital that these systems are properly maintained; not only because it is a statutory requirement and most insurance companies require it, but because the safety of you and staff may depend on it!
We can arrange regular inspection, testing and certification of emergency lighting systems every 6 or 12 months to ensure your premises fully comply with BS5266-1.
We'll also provide the required documentation and log book.
